FAQs
Yes. SuperSonic POS is a strong NRS alternative for retailers that want a connected retail platform with POS, payments, inventory, reporting, loyalty, online ordering, multi-location control, and loss prevention. NRS offers many of the same core retail capabilities, so the biggest differences are in how the systems deliver them. SuperSonic explicitly provides Store & Forward payment continuity, retail EDI, a centralized cloud back office, transaction-linked loss-prevention workflows, and 24/7/365 U.S.-based support.
Yes. NRS supports EBT/SNAP and eWIC, and NRS announced a direct partnership with NationsBenefits that allows participating merchants to accept NationsBenefits OTC Flex Cards through NRS Pay. SuperSonic also supports SNAP, EBT, eWIC, OTC benefits, and supported managed-care programs such as NationsBenefits. Merchants should therefore compare how those payments connect with the rest of each platform rather than treating benefit acceptance alone as the deciding factor.
NRS has limited offline functionality. Its 2026 setup guidance says merchants can ring cash sales while offline, but card processing, inventory synchronization, cloud backup, and reporting are unavailable without connectivity. NRS's FAQ also states that hard-wired internet is required for the POS to function properly. SuperSonic documents Store & Forward technology that allows supported payments to continue during temporary internet outages and synchronize when the connection returns.
Both systems can connect POS activity with security footage. NRS offers Security Camera Integration as a premium feature that overlays transaction information onto compatible DVR footage and also sells anti-theft alerts. SuperSonic connects transactions, alerts, receipts, and compatible camera footage within its loss-prevention workflow. For merchants comparing the two, the distinction is less about whether camera integration exists and more about how the loss-prevention tools are packaged, accessed, and connected to daily store management.
